Wild & Co Chartered Accountants is very proud to work with David and Jo Straker, the couple behind renowned Harrogate restaurant William & Victoria on Cold Bath Road, affectionately known locally as Will & Vics.

As an independent family run business, they value our hands on approach to accounting and we enjoy supporting two highly committed hospitality professionals who are so well tuned to their customers.

Jo says: “Liz and Graham have a very proactive approach to working with their clients and we see them as much more than an accountant; they are genuinely interested in our business and feel like part of the team.”

Wild & Co have advised David and Jo on a series of key business decisions over the past 12 months, all of which have been based on a deep understanding of the numbers and the day to day operations of the business.

“We feel like we’re in safe hands and we trust their judgement, which gives us confidence when we are making decisions about the running of our business,” Jo adds.

During the Coronavirus outbreak, all businesses have had more to think about and Jo and David have been impressed by the extra support they have received from Wild & Co during this challenging time.

“Liz has been incredibly helpful in assisting with the extra work connected with the furlough system, which has been complicated at times, and they have both given us practical advice which has taken a lot of the stress away for us,” Jo explains.

One of the key benefits for the Strakers has been the fact that Wild and Co take the initiative, rather than waiting to be asked for help.

“Liz pre-empts what we may need and will often contact us to let us know the best approach for our business, such as accessing any grants and loans that we are specifically eligible for,” says Jo.

Liz says: “David and Jo are superb business owners and they know their market exceptionally well which makes them a delight to work with.

“We have been able to add value by analysing their financial data with them, giving them valuable insight and the knowledge to make decisions in confidence, which will have a positive impact on what is already a thriving family business.

“We have found it particularly rewarding to have been able to guide them through the Coronavirus crisis, particularly as they are operating in one of the hardest hit sectors. Their resilience and professionalism has shone through during this time and we are delighted that their takeaway and delivery service has been such a success while the restaurant has been closed.”
